Simplified planning basisDuty Base = Product Value + International Freight + InsuranceCustoms valuation, tax bases, exemptions and rates vary by product and jurisdiction. Confirm the actual rules before importing.

The planning formula

Use the right rate
for the right product.

The calculator applies your entered duty rate to a simplified base made from product value, international freight and insurance. If you enter an additional import-tax rate, the tool applies it to the simplified duty base plus estimated duty.

Estimated duty(Product value + freight + insurance) × duty rate
Optional import tax(Simplified duty base + estimated duty) × entered tax rate

This is not a tariff database and does not determine your HS/CN code or legal duty rate. Use official customs sources or a qualified broker to confirm classification and import charges.

When to use this tool

Use it after you know
the applicable rate.

Use it when

You already have a reasonable duty-rate assumption and want a planning estimate for duty, optional import tax and per-unit border cost.

Do not use it to find the tariff rate

This calculator does not classify products or determine an HS/CN code. Confirm classification and the legal rate with official customs sources or a qualified broker.

Quick answers

Import duty
calculator FAQ.

Where do I get the duty rate?

Use the official tariff or customs database for the destination country, based on the correct product classification and origin. This page only applies the rate you enter.

Why does the calculator include freight and insurance in the simplified base?

Some customs systems use a value basis that includes transport and insurance to a border or port. Actual valuation rules differ by jurisdiction, so verify the applicable method for your shipment.

Is VAT or GST always charged on the same base?

No. Import tax bases and recoverability rules vary. The optional tax field is a planning estimate and should not replace local tax guidance.
