About ImportMetric

Numbers before
purchase orders.

ImportMetric is an independent collection of browser-based sourcing calculators and practical guides for importers, wholesalers and e-commerce sellers.

IM

Built around supplier quotes, landed cost, pricing, MOQ and inventory decisions.

ImportMetric exists to make import-cost assumptions visible before cash is committed. The calculators are planning tools, not substitutes for customs, tax, legal, accounting or logistics advice.

What ImportMetric helps with

Import buying decisions often start with a simple unit price, but the decision rarely ends there. Freight, insurance, duties, customs fees, destination delivery, marketplace fees, supplier MOQ and inventory coverage can materially change the economics of the order.

ImportMetric organizes those questions into focused calculators and decision guides. The goal is not to tell a buyer which supplier to choose. The goal is to make the numbers easier to compare on a consistent basis.

Who the site is for

The tools are designed for importers, sourcing teams, wholesalers, private-label sellers, e-commerce operators and small businesses that need a quick planning model before requesting a final freight quote, customs calculation or professional review.

How the calculators are built

The current calculators run in the browser and use formulas described on the relevant tool page. Where a formula depends on assumptions, the assumption is stated. For customs and duty calculations, ImportMetric intentionally uses simplified planning models rather than pretending to provide a universal legal customs result.

For more detail, see the Calculation Methodology.

Editorial principles

  • Explain the formula or decision logic behind a result.
  • Separate estimates from facts that depend on official customs, tax or commercial rules.
  • Use worked examples to show how a result is produced.
  • Link related tools so users can move from quote comparison to landed cost, margin and inventory decisions.
  • Correct material errors when they are identified.

What ImportMetric does not do

ImportMetric does not determine the legally correct HS or CN classification, guarantee a duty rate, act as a customs broker, provide legal or tax advice, verify supplier reliability, or guarantee that a projected margin will be achieved.
